Meet Cleartech Solution’s principals…
Ali Shamsi
Co-founder
Ali Shamsi is a technology solutions engineer, specializing in helping people & businesses to effectively use technology so they can be more productive, regain time, and ultimately, get back to life! He has a passion not merely for technology, but for the many ways in which it can be used to support communication, productivity, learning and – last but not least – play!
Throughout his career, the themes common to Ali’s work have been solving problems and reducing the complexity of using technology. Whether diagnosing technical issues, automating manual tasks, or proactively resolving problems before they cause downtime & pain, Ali has always embraced & thrived in the role of a problem solver.
Originally trained in aerospace engineering, Ali entered the information technology world first as a support technician, but soon after became a software developer. Although he enjoyed the problem-solving and creativity involved in programming, he found it to be too isolating and sought ways in which he could more directly bring new technology to people and help them use it.
Upon moving to the Bay Area, Ali joined the biotechnology company Genentech, spending the last 14 years in various roles within the company’s IT organization. Most recently, his role involved enterprise computer engineering, including:
- deploying user-facing technology systems
- simplifying and enhancing users’ computer experience
- increasing the security posture of computer systems
Graham Goddard
Co-founder
Graham Goddard is an IT Engineer with a tremendous fascination for all things related to personal technology and a desire to make computer and media technology accessible to everyone. Graham is a Co-Founder of Cleartech Solutions, a San Francisco-based company focusing on providing intuitive, easy to use technology and audio/video solutions for small businesses and home owners.
Graham spent over ten years engineering enterprise-wide desktop/laptop solutions for the biotechnology company Genentech during which time he had responsibility for hardware selection, standardization of system/software configuration and ensuring that desktops and laptops could be readily deployed across Genentech’s 12,000+ employees. Among Graham’s accomplishments at Genentech the most enjoyable and rewarding included:
- Designing the processes and system architecture to ensure that all personal computers are maintained with the most recent security updates.
- Selection and implementation of the company’s first desktop backup system to ensure that failure or loss of a computer could not result in loss of important information.
- Integration of all personal computers into the corporate domain upon Genentech’s acquisition of a facility in Singapore
- Developing Genentech’s standard Windows 7 configuration and engineering the deployment process for Windows 7.
Prior to his full entry into the world of enterprise information technology Graham studied biochemical pharmacology earning a Ph.D. in Medical Sciences then followed up with post-doctoral research at the Royal Free Hospital and MRC Laboratories in London, UK. Graham followed this with five years in drug development at a San Francisco Bay Area biotechnology start-up firm. During these years in science Graham’s enthusiasm and interest in all things relating to computing and networking led to him taking on IT support and decision making roles and eventually resulted in a permanent switch to IT when he joined Genentech.
